The microbiota in the mother's uterus does not match the microbiota in the baby's gut.
Many people have long believed that vaginal birth is healthier for the unborn child than cesarean delivery. Because the microbiota in the newborn's stomach is believed to be shaped by the microbes it meets in the vaginal microbiome. According to recent study, the gut microbiota of infants is significantly impacted by the way they are delivered, with caesarean section babies lacking vital microbes. Although this has been commonly accepted, a recent study that was published in Frontiers in Cellular and Infection Microbiology casts doubt on it.
